Lessons & pricing

Every lesson, tailored to you

Structured enough to build real technique, personal enough to stay inspiring — and it all starts with a free first lesson.

How a session flows

Four beats to every lesson

Like a bar of 4/4, each session moves through four parts — from fundamentals to the music you love.

1

Warm-ups

Loosen up, connect with the kit, and get hands and feet talking to each other.

2

Rudiments

The vocabulary of drumming — stick control and patterns that make everything else possible.

3

Groove development

Timing, feel, and creativity — turning technique into beats that actually groove.

4

Songs you love

Apply it all to the music you’re passionate about — the part that keeps you coming back.

One-to-one, every session

Lessons are taught personally by Peter at his home studio — no rotating tutors, no group classes. Just you, the kit, and someone watching closely enough to correct the small things before they become habits.

The Groove Lab

Building a beat like this is exactly the kind of thing you’ll do in your first lessons. Toggle the steps, press play — sound on.

Build your first groove

We’ve set up a classic rock beat to get you started — change it, break it, make it yours. That’s the lesson.

Common questions

Do I need my own drum kit?
Not for lessons — you’ll play on the studio’s full Roland electronic kit. When you’re ready to practise at home, Peter can advise on options for any budget and space, from a simple practice pad through to an electronic kit you can play with headphones on.
I’m a complete beginner. Is that okay?
It’s more than okay — it’s the most common starting point. Lessons are tailored to your level from day one, and beginners are playing real beats in the very first session.
What ages do you teach?
All ages and levels are welcome — from young beginners right through to adults picking up sticks for the first time. Get in touch and Peter will let you know what suits.
Where are lessons held?
At Peter’s home studio, 4 Rochester Dr, Thomastown VIC 3074 — in Melbourne’s north.
How does the free first lesson work?
It’s a full 30-minute lesson, free for every new student. Call, text or email Peter and he’ll arrange a time. It’s a real session, not a sales pitch — you’ll play, get a feel for how he teaches, and decide from there. No cost, no obligation.
How do I book a lesson?
Directly with Peter — give him a call or a text, or send an email or message through the contact page. Tell him the days and times that suit you and he’ll confirm a slot. If nothing is free right away, he’ll let you know as soon as something opens up.
How do I pay?
Lessons are bought as prepaid packs — 6 lessons for $240 or 12 for $450 — arranged directly with Peter when you book. Each 30-minute lesson uses one credit from your pack, and credits are valid for 12 months.
